Was it all just about luck?

Luck is defined as “success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one’s own actions”*. Do we really want to attribute our actions to others?

There are matters which for sure we cannot control: other’ reactions and decisions. But we choose how we react to life events, and depending on the path taken, circumstances happen. The “luck” comes with occasions. Keeping an open mind to meeting new people, say yes to new challenges even the scariest ones but are key to define our future.

the year of yes
In November, I listened to Shonda Rhimes “Year of Yes”. this very successful producer, screenwriter, and author (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal ( my favourite show) and so many more) was describes this book as the book of “what happens when you open yourself up to change”. I was intrigued by this book and realised that yes luck is not luck, this is our ability to say yes more to changes.

Personally, 2017 was to be the year I would go beyond fear despite what other could think. What happened? This 1st marathon, the one! As written in a previous blog posts, dreaming of it was one thing but I actually acted on it despite fears and numerous doubts. I learned from it and I am still using it to push myself and as an example of “ you did it once so you can do it again”

This was now 10 months ago. And as expected, it was not an easy one. I had to go for it. But it was not alone and that was the key? I had been motivated, pushed all along but most of all I believed that it was possible. This is the key feeling I keep of this experience. With work and consistency, anything is achievable. It takes patience and determination.

Girlboss - Sophia Amoruso

Sophia Amoruso, the author of #Girlboss and founder of Nastygal.com, wrote that we have to “learn to create our own opportunities”, they will not come by themselves, this is not a question of luck.

I want to remember that whatever challenge we decide to take, the journey is always made with people on our side. Yes we are the one make it happened but we should not forget to ask for help if necessary.
Being supported by people we care might be where the luck stands…
